Jerry Newsome

Highlights:
• Jerry was a tremendous hitter.
• He hit for average as well as an outstanding long ball threat.
• He was a very good defensive player at 1B and 3B.
• In 1970 he was named MVP of the ASA Region #15 tourney. He batted 16-21 with 11 HR’s.
• In 1969 he hit .678 in helping led the Columbus Athenians to the Columbus league city tournament.
• He hit 34 HR’s for the Athenians in 1972.
• Jerry showed that even if you were a superstar on the field you could still be a quality person off the field.
• An outstanding player and teammate who helped put Columbus Indiana on the Indiana Softball map.
